Adorning the Independence Square is the Hotel Plaza Grande. With more than five centuries of history. During the Spanish foundation of Quito, the land where the house is located was given to the famous conqueror Francisco Pizarro. It was the first house built during the foundation of the city in the 16th century, later it was habited by the most recognized families of the city. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was the first luxury hotel in the city.
